In 1998, I graduated from the Bancroft School
of Massage Therapy, Worcester, MA and embarked on the second career of
my life. My experience as a licensed massage therapist includes
practicing massage at a holistic health center, day spa and five and a
half years at a professional massage therapy company before founding my
own practice, A Joyful Awakening.
I also have served as an
Associate Instructor at the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy. I am
certified in Myofascial Release Therapy and Pre and Perinatal Massage
Therapy and am a Reiki II practitioner. I am Nationally Certified
in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and a member of the Associated
Bodywork and Massage Professionals organization. I am a licensed
practitioner in Massachusetts.
For several years, the
primary focus of my work was to assist clients by applying various deep
tissue techniques to help decrease muscle tension, soreness and pain
connected with injuries, chronic overuse, postural imbalance and stress
and to restore range of motion to affected areas.
As my career
progressed, I began to understand on a deeper level that the muscular
discomfort from which my clients suffered was, in many cases, the
outside manifestation of life issues they carry within. Over time I
began to feel limited in what I, as a practitioner, could do to
effectively support the broader well being of my clients. As a result,
I sought education that would provide me with skills that could help
revitalize, harmonize and balance all dimensions of the human being
(body, mind and soul) and thus promote the highest lives of my
clients.
In keeping with this pursuit, I
studied Polarity Realization Therapy at the Polarity Realization
Institute, Ipswich, MA and graduated from their Polarity Career Program
in 2005. Please refer to the Polarity Brochure of this web site for greater detail about this powerful work. Polarity
Realization Therapy is bodywork that, among its many
benefits, opens the opportunity for us to reclaim and strengthen our inner power and joy, connect with our true selves and fulfill the lives we desire deep in our hearts.
In further support of this pursuit, in 2007 I was drawn to and began training in CranioSacral Therapy (CST) through the Upledger Institute, the most comprehensive and intensive CranioSacral Therapy venue in the world. This gentle and amazing manual therapy on the craniosacral system assists in improving core health, balance and function through the body's own natural healing processes. In 2010 and 2011, I added more advanced levels of CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release to my skill set. I love this work and continue to be surprised and fascinated by the profound and positive results that CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release have had on the health and lives of my clients.
In 2008, I added traditional Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage to my practice. A flowing and nurturing touch and the deep mental and physical rest, clarity and
inner harmony with which clients emerge from session are qualities characteristic of this style of bodywork; thus, Lomi Lomi Massage has proved the perfect complement to my available skill set supporting the well-being of my clients.
Today, among my services, I offer clients wonderful CranioSacral Therapy, Polarity Realization Therapy, Holistic Massage (therapeutic massage and Polarity), Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage.
